Q&A: Did NBC just totally destroy their late night programs with Conan and Jimmy Fallon?

Question by Where’s my McNuggets?: Did NBC just totally destroy their late night programs with Conan and Jimmy Fallon?
This is a disaster.

Conan is not 11:35 material, and Jimmy Fallon is just another Lorne Michaels hack. Who does that guy know at NBC? He can’t get removed from the building no matter what! SNL has sucked for years and it can’t get canceled. It’s like the Simpsons, it has some sort of legacy pass or something.

RIP Tonight and Late Show…sigh!

Moving Conan was the right decision because people who have followed him from the beginning (me) are getting older and becoming the generation that is the target demo. That’s why Conan will work at 11:35, because we’re used to his humor, like him and will MAKE him 11:35 material. He’ll be on there the next 15 years and that will be that.

As for Fallon? I’m watching his first show right now and it’s already looking like MASSIVE FAIL. Carson Daly has toiled at 1:35 for years and has gotten better — I think he deserved the shot at Late Night over Fallon, who was horrible on SNL, iffy in movies and was handed this job TWO years ago.

I don’t think Fallon will make it. But considering the power Lorne has at NBC and his affinity for Fallon, I think he’ll keep forcing it until they have no choice.

I can’t wait for Conan to take over Tonight in May. I like Leno, by the way. As for Fallon? I doubt it.
