Gavin Purcell Joins Jimmy Fallon on Late Night

22-Aug-2008Written by: Dean Stattmann The Attack of the Show exec producer is the latest addition to Fallon’s Late Night. Gavin Purcell, the former Attack of the Show executive producer, has signed onto Late Night, where he will work as co-producer. According to Variety, the producer will report to Late Night showrunner-producer Mike Shoemaker and executive producer Lorne Michaels. Shoemaker is also a new addition to the Late Night team, however, he and Fallon have been working together since the new host was announced. The producer’s affiliation with the show was made official earlier this month. Fallon, a regular viewer of G4’s Attack of the Show, had long suggested Purcell’s potential Late Night involvement, reported Variety. Meanwhile, the new host is preparing for the launch of his daily Internet series, which will resemble mini Late Night episodes, in an effort to familiarize himself with the new position. Purcell will be instrumental in the appearance of the nightly Webcasts and is confident that Fallon will be successful in this experimental venture. "He's got a good finger on things right now, the Internet and new-media stuff, and he sees that as part of his vision for the show," Purcell said. "For young people today, especially guys, I think the Internet is everything -- it's the cauldron from which all of our information comes now -- and he clicked in on that same idea." Back at Attack of the Show, Purcell will be replaced by supervising producers Joshua Brentano and Vinnie Rutherford, who will together assume the executive producer position.  More @ http://thecelebritycafe.com/features/19190.html
